Major western economies said to introduce more financial sanctions against Russia. Announcing the decision late last night, the President of the European Commission, Ursula van der Leyen said the aim was to cripple President Putin's ability to finance his war machine. She said the EU, the US, Canada and the UK have agreed to cut off some Russian banks from the main international payment system known as SWIFT.
